Moscow's Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the writer Nikolai Gogol (1809-1852) with an exhibition of more than 80 drawings made over the past eight years by Leon Steinmetz (b. in Russia, 1944). Based in Massachusetts, Steinmetz has made nine series--each a lyrical response to Gogol's life, writings, and milieu. Set for December 1 - January 10, this is only the second time in 50 years that an American artist has been offered a solo show at the Pushkin.
