Cleveland's Contessa Gallery presents a selling exhibition of recent prints by Chuck Close (b. 1940), the American artist renowned for making monumental, psychologically charged portraits and self-portraits in an astonishing range of media.
On view September 11 through November 1, this show complements the Akron Art Museum's exhibition Familiar Faces: Chuck Close in Ohio Collections (September 5-January 3, 2010). On 11, the gallery and museum offer a sfeaturing two individuals who have sat for Close (Linda Rosenkrantz and Mark Greenwold), as well as the artist Christopher Finch, who recently authored the monograph Chuck Close: Work.
