Since it was profiled in Fine Art Connoisseur in autumn 2006, the collection of Chip Hosek has grown in size and importance. More than 60 of his oils, watercolors, and pastels go on public view for the first time at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. Opened in spring 2008, "the Pearl is a non-collecting institution that serves more than 1,000,000 residents in Houston's northwestern suburbs. Hosek, who lives just south of Houston, has focused on American art and illustration of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, acquiring key examples by Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and F.X. Leyendecker. Texan visitors will particular enjoy seeing their state flower, the bluebonnet, as painted by Porfirio Salinas and R.W. Wood.
